Get involved

RIDI exists to create disability confident recruiters by raising awareness and removing barriers in order to help reduce the UK disability employment gap. But how can you get involved?

The Recruitment Industry Disability Initiative (RIDI) has one purpose: to break down the barriers faced by the millions of disabled people who are entering or progressing through the job market.

Our inclusion calculator

Ideally every workforce should include around twenty per cent disabled people. You can use our Disability Inclusion Calculator to see how you measure up and calculate your disability employment gap.

Be Disability Confident

The Government’s Disability Confident scheme encourages businesses to recruit and retain disabled people and people with health conditions for their skills and talent.

RIDI host informative events with leading experts to share best practice with recruiters and employers

The Disability Employment Gap

There is a gap between the number of disabled people and non-disabled people currently in employment in the UK. This is known as the disability employment gap.

The UK government aims to get over one million disabled people into work by 2020 in order to halve the gap.

What is the Disability Employment Gap?

There are nearly 12 million disabled people in the UK, but 79 per cent do not have a job and there is a disability employment gap of around 30 per cent , or just over two million people.

Success Stories

We believe it’s important to share best practise and learn from each other to help the whole recruitment industry become truly disability confident.

Become a RIDI Partner

We have one purpose: to break down the barriers facing disabled people in the recruitment industry. We do this by empowering recruiters and employers by giving you the tools you need to make a difference and become disability confident. When we launched in 2011, we set out to transform recruitment and level the playing field for disabled people.

Our aim then, as it still is now, is to work with the industry, not against it. We strive to inspire, educate and empower.

We champion best practice and celebrate the real progress being made through a programme of learning, events and our awards. There is a disability employment gap of over two million people. Our government has pledged to halve the gap, but they cannot do this without the recruitment industry embracing change.

We know that we all need to work together to create a million opportunities for disabled people, and invite you to become one of our partners or sponsors. Your support as a partner or event sponsor will allow RIDI to improve life chances and employment outcomes for disabled people.
